The Centre for Research and Information on Substance Abuse (CRISA), in collaboration with Community Intervention Network on Drugs in Nigeria (CIND) and our partners (European Union, UNODC, etc.), is pleased to announce the 4th Biennial National Symposium on Drugs and Drug Policy in Nigeria.
Symposium theme
The major theme of the 2019 symposium is “Non-Medical Use of Prescription and Over-the-Counter Medications in Nigeria: Causes, Consequences and Effective Responses” We invite civil society organizations (CSOs) working in the fields of prevention and treatment, researchers, policy experts, treatment professionals and students to submit proposals for presentations on all aspects of this national issue — the growing prevalence of abuse/misuse of prescription and other psychoactive substances in different groups across the country.
Symposium format
The symposium programme will feature a mix of capacity building workshops targeting CSOs and young professionals, poster presentations, keynote addresses and panel discussions.
While we are particularly interested in presentations that address any aspect of non-medical use of pharmaceutical substances in Nigeria, we will accept submissions on issues related to other psychoactive substances. We invite you to submit the abstract of your work (not more than 250 words) by e-mail to the Local Organizing Committee (crisainfo1@gmail.com) on or before the abstract submission deadline shown below.
